Attacks on Russian oil depots have resulted in the loss of hundreds of metric tons of fuel and the cancellation of contracts
Attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian oil depots in 2024–2025 resulted in the loss of hundreds of metric tons of gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as the cancellation of a number of major fuel contracts. This is evidenced by court documents analyzed by the publication “Versтка.”
In particular, the Moscow Arbitration Court ordered the Crimean “Maritime Oil Terminal” to pay over 8.4 million rubles in compensation for the loss of 132 metric tons of AI-92 gasoline and nearly 24 metric tons of diesel fuel, which were destroyed by fire following a drone attack in October 2024.
In another case, the court ruled that security measures at an oil depot in the Tambov Region were inadequate following the loss of more than 80 metric tons of gasoline as a result of a drone strike.
According to journalists, this represents only a small fraction of the actual losses, as only those cases where the parties were unable to reach a settlement on compensation make it to court.
Amid intensifying strikes on Russia’s oil infrastructure, signs of a fuel crisis began to emerge in the country in June. Restrictions on fuel sales for private vehicles have already been introduced in dozens of regions, and several regions are reporting gasoline shortages at gas stations.
