Putin has no plans for peace in 2026, says journalist
During his latest phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian leader Putin reportedly made it clear that he does not expect a peace agreement regarding the war against Ukraine to be reached by the end of the year.
Journalist Yulia Zabelina stated this on Radio NV, citing her own sources.
“During this conversation, from what my sources told me, Putin almost directly told Trump not to count on signing an agreement by the end of this year,” she said.
According to the journalist, the Kremlin believes that by the end of the year, the Russian army will be able to capture Donbas, after which Moscow’s negotiating position will allegedly become stronger.
In her opinion, this is precisely why the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia, mediated by the U.S., has effectively stalled.
Zabelina also noted that contacts with the American side are ongoing, but there are currently no specific deadlines for reaching concrete decisions.
The Kremlin has officially confirmed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s visit to China, which will take place on May 19–20. The trip will occur just a few days after the summit between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump in Beijing.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump and will make an official visit to the United States this fall.
