A British fisherman who fought for Russia was killed in the war against Ukraine
Bradley Townsend, a 33-year-old from South Yorkshire, was killed while fighting with the Russian army against Ukraine. According to British media reports, he was the first British citizen to be killed fighting on the side of Russian forces.
Townsend was killed in June near Lyman in the Donetsk region as a result of an FPV drone strike. Prior to that, he had worked as a fisherman in Barnsley, and in April he traveled to Russia and joined the ranks of the occupying army, despite having no military experience.
The British man had previously explained his decision as a desire to “repay” the Donbas for its support of Yorkshire miners during the strikes of the 1980s.

It is worth noting that Ukrainian Armed Forces drones flew as far as the Arkhangelsk region—located approximately 1,900 km from the border with Ukraine—for the first time. Their target may have been the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia’s only active military spaceport.
