Russia attacked a gas station in Kharkiv with an FPV drone, causing a fire

Late in the evening on July 31, Russian troops launched an attack using an FPV drone on a gas station in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack caused a fire at the gas station, but there were no casualties.

According to rescue workers, a fuel dispenser caught fire after being hit. The fire covered an area of about three square meters.

Units of the State Emergency Service quickly extinguished the fire and dealt with the aftermath of the enemy attack. Medical personnel and law enforcement officers were also on the scene.

As the Financial Times notes, the Russian army has recently changed its airstrike tactics, increasingly targeting gas stations.

According to sources cited by the publication, the Kremlin is attempting to:

  • complicate fuel supplies to the regions;
  • disrupt logistics chains;
  • increase psychological pressure on residents of frontline regions.

In addition, such attacks may be a response to Ukraine’s successful strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure.

Earlier, Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, refuted reports that there were allegedly no functioning gas stations left on the Kharkiv–Poltava highway.

He urged citizens to trust only official and verified sources of information and not to spread unconfirmed reports.

At the same time, energy expert and director of special projects at the Psychea Scientific and Technical Center, Gennadiy Ryabtsev, emphasized that despite rising prices for gasoline and diesel fuel, there is currently no basis for speaking of a fuel crisis in Ukraine.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 1,026 strikes on 56 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.

As a result of the Russian nighttime attack on Kyiv on August 1, nine people were killed and another 28 were wounded. Among the victims were four children.

On the evening of July 31, a Russian attack drone struck a high-rise residential building in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv. According to preliminary reports, the building’s roof was damaged, but there were no casualties.

As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.

Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually occur at night. An expert believes this may have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.

Russian troops shot and killed a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the Donetsk region.
