Russia attacked the suburbs of Odesa; one person was injured

On the afternoon of September 16, Russian troops launched an attack on the outskirts of Odesa. The attack damaged a private residential building and a warehouse; one person was injured.

According to Oleg Kipper, the Russian strike damaged the roof of a private residential building.

Damage to the facade and windows of the warehouse building was also reported.

“As a result of the enemy attack, the roof of a private residential building was damaged, as well as the facade and windows of a warehouse. One person was injured,” the statement said.

The head of the Odesa region noted that information regarding the consequences of the Russian strike is currently being verified.

All relevant services are working at the scene to address the aftermath of the attack and document the damage caused.

On Wednesday, September 16, due to hostilities and Russian shelling of energy infrastructure, some consumers in six regions of Ukraine were temporarily left without power.

In the Mykolaiv region, a power line was damaged by falling debris following Russian strikes. As a result, 18 settlements were left without power.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, a private home was damaged by Russian shelling. A 65-year-old woman was trapped under the rubble; rescuers freed her and handed her over to medical personnel.

Russian troops struck a passenger bus in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Five people were killed and seven others were wounded in the attack, according to Serhiy Hanzha, head of the regional military administration.

Over the past 24 hours, 278 combat engagements were recorded along the front lines. Russian troops carried out the most assaults in the Pokrovsk direction—Ukrainian defenders repelled 43 enemy attacks.

As of September 16, 2026, the Ukrainian military had eliminated 1,530 Russian occupiers over the past 24 hours. The Russian Federation’s total military losses increased by another 1,530 soldiers.

Since the start of the day on September 15, there have been 219 combat engagements on the front lines. Russian troops launched the most attacks in the Pokrovsk direction—there, Ukrainian forces repelled 38 assaults.
