Russia attacked the Amstor shopping center in Zaporizhzhia, which was preparing to close

A fire broke out in Zaporizhzhia following yesterday’s Russian strike on the “Amstor” shopping center. 

Firefighters put out the blaze, but the building sustained significant damage.

“We were last here on Saturday with our child. We could already see that all the stores were packing up and leaving. The music had already stopped playing. We could see that there wasn’t much merchandise left. It’s so sad—it’s just unbearable,” said a local resident.

A fire broke out at the “Amstor” shopping center as a result of Russian shelling. Rescue workers quickly arrived on the scene and put out the fire.

The roof, structural elements, and the store’s interior sustained significant damage from the strike.

Local residents say that even before the attack, the shopping center had been gradually emptying out: some stores were already packing up their goods and preparing to leave the premises.

The consequences of the Russian strike on the “Amstor” shopping center in Zaporizhzhia are still being assessed.

This was recounted by an eyewitness who saw the shopping center after the attack.

On the morning of September 23 in Kyiv, a Russian attack caused large-scale fires at civilian facilities. In particular, the “Shayba” market near the train station—where “Velyka Kyshenya” used to operate—is on fire.

Eight people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack on September 23. One of the wounded, who was hospitalized in critical condition, died in the hospital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.

On the night of September 23, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 161 strike drones of various types. Among them were 82 jet-powered UAVs. As of 8:00 a.m., air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized 119 enemy drones and three additional “Banderole”/“Dan-T” drones. 

Since the evening of September 22, Russian troops have attacked two districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 10 times. The occupiers used drones and dropped aerial bombs; one person was injured as a result of the attacks.

We should add that drones attacked the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions overnight.

As a reminder, Russia struck Kharkiv on the night of September 23, resulting in one fatality.

On the morning of September 23, air raid alerts were declared in Kyiv and several regions due to the threat of UAVs.
