Russia Is Preparing Fake Documents About the Volhynia Tragedy, According to the Center for Public Diplomacy
Russian intelligence agencies are preparing a large-scale disinformation campaign aimed at undermining Ukrainian-Polish relations. To this end, the FSB plans to release falsified documents related to the events of World War II and the Volhynia tragedy.
According to him, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov is currently coordinating the Kremlin’s information operations, the main goal of which is to drive a wedge between Ukraine and Poland.
“FSB Director Bortnikov is currently in charge of Russia’s information operations, which are aimed at driving a wedge between Poland and Ukraine,” Kovalenko noted.
He reported that on July 5, Russian intelligence agencies plan to release forged documents allegedly related to the Volhynia tragedy in order to provoke a new wave of tension between the two countries.
“FSB officers plan to release falsified documents regarding the events of World War II, specifically the Volhynia tragedy on July 5, in an attempt to undermine Ukrainian-Polish relations,” the head of the CPD emphasized.
Furthermore, according to Kovalenko, Russian state media have already been instructed to spread this disinformation campaign as widely as possible, using fake materials to manipulate public opinion and exacerbate historical disputes between Ukraine and Poland.
This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, on Telegram.
As a reminder, reports of the alleged capture of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast by Russian troops are untrue. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the city remains under the full control of the Defense Forces, and that the statements circulated by the Russian side are yet another instance of disinformation.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi visited combat units holding defensive positions in the Orikhiv and Huliaipole sectors in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. During the trip, he discussed the situation on the front lines with commanders and issued the necessary orders to strengthen defenses. According to him, Russian troops continue to press forward, regardless of their losses.
Meanwhile, Roman Svitan, a reserve colonel in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a military expert, believes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ operation in occupied Crimea has entered a new phase. He said that following strikes against Russian air defense systems and logistics, the main targets are now military facilities, energy infrastructure, and other infrastructure supporting the occupying forces.
