Russia plans to resettle more than 100,000 of its citizens to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine by 2045.
This was reported by the newspaper Vedomosti, citing development plans for the occupied parts of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
The documents were developed by the state corporation VEB.RF and the Unified Institute for Spatial Planning. The plans include 15 general development plans and 10 territorial planning projects.
According to the documents, the implementation of the general plans is expected to ensure the resettlement of about 67,100 people, while another 46,700 people will be relocated as part of territorial planning projects.
The projects provide for large-scale construction and infrastructure modernisation. In particular, more than 13 million square metres of housing are planned to be built, along with 168 kindergartens, 24 schools, two outpatient clinics and seven sports facilities.
The plans also include the construction and reconstruction of more than 3,270 kilometres of roads, nearly 430 kilometres of railway tracks and 19 stations, the creation of marinas and piers, as well as the reconstruction of four aerodromes.
In addition, the plans include the creation of industrial facilities, including eight machine-building enterprises, 15 construction materials plants, six mining facilities, as well as enterprises for processing spoil heaps.
In total, more than 225,000 people are expected to be involved in the implementation of these projects.
