Russia has not yet launched sea-based cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea at Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Navy

There are currently no confirmed cases of Russia launching sea-based cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea at Ukraine, but Russian strategic aviation regularly conducts launches over the Caspian Sea.

This was announced by Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk on television.

‘There are currently no confirmed cases of sea-based cruise missiles being launched from the Caspian Sea,’ he said.

At the same time, Pletenchuk noted that Russian strategic aviation regularly launches missiles from the Caspian Sea area in an attempt to avoid risks to its own population.

"The only thing that can be confirmed with certainty is the launch of missiles from strategic aircraft over the Caspian Sea in our direction, towards the territory of Ukraine. There have been many such incidents, because this is how they try to protect their compatriots from accidental missile strikes. It is easier for them to bomb the fauna of the Caspian Sea,‘ the spokesman said.

He added that, in theory, Russia could use sea-based missile carriers in this region, but there is no confirmation of such cases.

’We do not currently have any confirmed cases involving ships, although it is theoretically possible," Pletenchuk stressed.
