In the Russian Federation, a top manager of Rosatom has been detained on suspicion of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In Russia, Mikhail Shcherbak, Director of Capital Construction at Atomstroyexport, a company that builds nuclear power plants, has been detained. He is suspected of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

Until 2007, Shcherbak held the position of Deputy Head of the Administration of the closed administrative-territorial entity of Sarov, located in the Nizhny Novgorod region. There, he was responsible for architectural and urban planning issues.

After leaving the Sarov administration, Shcherbak continued his career in the nuclear industry, returning to Nizhny Novgorod’s Atomenergoproekt, where his responsibilities included coordinating construction work at nuclear power plants.

Following reports of the detention of Rosatom’s Director of Capital Construction, the corporation promised to provide all necessary assistance to law enforcement agencies in the criminal case against Shcherbak. “With regard to the NPP employee Mikhail Shcherbak, the competent authorities are carrying out investigative actions, and the necessary assistance is being provided,” the corporation said.

Atomstroyexport is the managing company of Rosatom’s engineering division. According to information on ASE’s website, Mikhail Shcherbak holds the position of Director of Capital Construction.
