Russia invents claims about “nuclear weapons” in Ukraine due to lack of battlefield success — Zelensky
Russia spreads statements alleging a search for nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory when it fails to achieve success on the battlefield. At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that Ukraine does not possess nuclear weapons.
He made this statement at a press conference in Kyiv with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, responding to Russian nuclear threats.
“Usually, when Russia fails to win on the battlefield, they begin looking for nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Ukraine does not have nuclear weapons, unfortunately. You know all the circumstances of how and thanks to whom this happened,” Zelensky said at the press conference with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store in Kyiv.
The President emphasised that such statements from the Kremlin are an element of information pressure and an attempt to justify failures at the front.
Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service launched another wave of disinformation, accusing Western countries of secretly transferring nuclear components to Kyiv.
Previously, Zelensky had called for Ukraine’s nuclear weapons to be returned if the country is not accepted into NATO.
There have also been discussions in the United States about the possibility of returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
