Russia is losing momentum; EU envoy outlines conditions for ending the war
Russia is incapable of defeating Ukraine on the battlefield. According to EU Ambassador Katarina Maternová, the war must end not on the Kremlin’s terms, but on terms acceptable to both sides. Moscow must acknowledge reality and move toward solutions that ensure a just and lasting peace.
This is reported with reference to a statement by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.
"Russia is losing momentum. Ukraine is beginning to fight back decisively. Moscow must finally understand that it is time to end this war. But not on terms dictated by the Kremlin. On terms that both sides can accept," she emphasized.
Maternová noted that she rarely writes about Ukraine’s attacks on the aggressor country, adding that on the night of May 17, Kyiv carried out one of its largest drone attacks.
"In recent months, Ukraine has significantly intensified its attacks on military targets deep within Russian territory, in line with its technological capabilities. Russian authorities reported hundreds of drones over the Moscow region, damage to strategic buildings, and chaos at airports," the ambassador said.
She emphasized that Russia is unable to defeat Ukraine on the battlefield, as it is running out of soldiers, motivation, and endurance.
"And since it is losing on the front lines, it is intensifying its attacks on the civilian population," Maternova noted.
