Russia launched nearly 200 drones at Ukraine; air defense forces shot down 189 aerial targets

On the night of June 3, Russian forces launched another massive drone attack on Ukrainian territory, deploying 198 strike and decoy drones of various types.

Air defense forces destroyed most of the aerial targets, but some hits were also recorded.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy used:

  • Shahed strike drones;
  • “Gerbera” drones;
  • "Italmas";
  • “Parody”-type decoy drones.

The launches were carried out from the territory of Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea, specifically from the following regions:

  • Bryansk;
  • Kursk;
  • Millerovo;
  • Orel;
  • Primorsko-Akhtarsk;
  • Gvardeyskoye in occupied Crimea.

The following were involved in repelling the air attack:

  • air force;
  • anti-aircraft missile forces;
  • electronic warfare units;
  • unmanned aerial vehicle units;
  • mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As of 08:00, Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 189 enemy drones of various types in the north, east, and south of the country.

Despite the successful work of the air defense forces, eight strike drones were recorded as hitting seven locations.

In addition, debris from downed drones fell at seven other locations, causing damage to infrastructure.

The Air Force emphasized that the threat persists.

“The attack is ongoing; enemy drones are in the airspace. Follow safety guidelines!” the military reported.

Defense forces continue to monitor the air situation and work to destroy enemy targets.

On the night of June 2, Russian troops launched another strike on the Dnipro district of Kherson, using attack drones and artillery. An elderly woman was killed in the attack, and six other civilians were wounded.

Russian troops attacked Dnipro again on the evening of June 2. The strike caused a fire.

The Russian attack damaged energy and oil and gas infrastructure, and there are casualties.

Poland scrambled its combat aircraft in response to Russia’s large-scale air attack on Ukraine.

The press service of the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command officially announced the emergency response and activation of defense protocols on social media platform X. 

Russia attacked Kharkiv and the surrounding region overnight; there are casualties.
