In St. Petersburg, airport operations were restricted on the opening day of the economic forum due to drones

On the night of June 2, an air raid alert was issued in the Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation due to a drone attack. Russian authorities reported a massive drone raid and imposed restrictions on operations at St. Petersburg Airport.  

In the Luzhsky District, four private homes were damaged by falling debris. According to official reports, there were no casualties.

Due to the threat of drone attacks, temporary restrictions were imposed on operations at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg overnight.

Rosaviatsiya reported restrictions on flight arrivals and departures, as well as additional security measures in the airspace of certain districts of the Leningrad Region.

In the morning, residents of St. Petersburg began reporting widespread disruptions to mobile internet and communication services.

According to outage monitoring services, users are complaining about websites being inaccessible, interruptions in messaging apps, problems with mobile internet, and a lack of mobile service in certain areas of the city.

It is worth noting that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place in St. Petersburg from June 3 to 6.

Foreign guests are expected to attend, including representatives from the United States, as well as members of the Russian president’s family. According to the organizers, Vladimir Putin is scheduled to speak at the forum on June 5.

Against the backdrop of this large-scale event, Russian authorities are stepping up security measures in the city and the region.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko stated that 59 drones were allegedly shot down over the region.
 
Following a nighttime drone attack on the St. Petersburg oil terminal, new details have emerged regarding the scale of the fire. According to Russian and OSINT sources, the fire at the facility turned out to be significantly more severe than initially reported in official statements.
