Rutte confirmed the continuation of U.S. intelligence and military assistance to Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that the United States remains a key partner of Ukraine, providing vital intelligence support and supplying weapons through European allies.
According to the official, Washington is working together with Europe to ensure that Ukraine has all the necessary resources to counter Russian aggression.
In an interview with CBS News, the Secretary General emphasized that U.S. President Donald Trump is currently working actively to push the Kremlin to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
Mark Rutte emphasized that the efforts of the U.S. administration are crucial for ending the war.
The NATO Secretary General noted that the U.S. President is forced to balance numerous geopolitical interests, particularly regarding sanctions against Russian oil.
A revamped White House team, including Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff, and Marco Rubio, is working on a strategy to pressure Russia.
According to Rutte, these officials are in constant contact with the Ukrainian side, developing mechanisms to exert maximum pressure on Moscow.
The goal of these actions is to compel the Russian Federation to take concrete steps toward concluding a peace agreement on terms favorable to international security.
“They are constantly working with the Ukrainians to exert maximum pressure on the Russians and force them to agree to a deal,” the official said, commenting on the work of the team led by the U.S. president.
Mark Rutte also shared details of his recent talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half and focused on finding ways to end hostilities as quickly as possible.
The Alliance’s Secretary General is convinced that the Ukrainian leadership sincerely seeks an end to the war and is ready for constructive cooperation.
At the same time, he noted that Donald Trump’s role is to break the deadlock where negotiations previously reached an impasse.
An important part of the strategy is applying simultaneous pressure on the aggressor while working with Ukrainian partners to achieve a balanced outcome.
Rutte is confident that this approach is the only way to stabilize the situation in the region.
As a reminder, Rutte compared the Russian military to a “garden snail” and urged people not to believe the propaganda.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also begins and ends every conversation with European leaders by calling for support for the PURL program.
