The Russian army continues to strike Ukraine’s railway infrastructure. This time, the Kharkiv region came under attack, where a shunting locomotive was damaged as a result of the shelling.
“The enemy continued to carry out targeted strikes on the railway at night. This time in the Kharkiv region. A shunting locomotive was hit. Thanks to the work of monitoring centers, which operated in enhanced mode throughout Ukraine over the past 24 hours, the locomotive crew left the diesel locomotive in time and took cover,” the statement said.
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that the locomotive crew members were unharmed, as they evacuated to a shelter in time after the danger signal.
According to the company, four locomotives have been damaged in the last two days alone as a result of massive Russian attacks.
Russian troops regularly attack Ukraine’s transport and critical infrastructure facilities, attempting to disrupt logistics and railway operations.
In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, the body of another victim was recovered from the rubble of a high-rise building. Thus, the death toll from the Russian attack has risen to three. Search and rescue operations are ongoing; 28 people have already been rescued.
As a reminder, on the night of May 14, an air raid alert lasted nearly eight hours in Kyiv. In the Kyiv region, seven people were injured in the Russian attack, including a three-year-old child. In Kyiv, more than 30 people have been wounded following the massive shelling.
