Russia is preparing to deploy new Gerani jet aircraft capable of speeds up to 500 km/h
Russian occupation forces plan to significantly step up their use of new variants of jet-powered attack drones against Ukraine. The enemy expects that it will be much more difficult for Ukraine’s air defense system and mobile fire groups to destroy high-speed aerial targets.
This was stated by Serhiy (Flash) Beskrestnov, a military expert in communications and radio technology and an advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense.
According to the expert, the Russian army currently has several types of jet-powered counterparts to the “Shaheds”:
"Geran-3" — a model that the invaders are already using in practice. It is capable of reaching speeds of approximately 300 kilometers per hour. The Ukrainian defense forces have studied this aircraft and are currently successfully working on shooting it down.
“Geran-4” — a newer and significantly more dangerous variant, the use of which the enemy plans to scale up in the future. The speed of this jet-powered drone will reach 400–500 kilometers per hour.
Serhiy Beskrestnov emphasized that the Kremlin’s focus on high speed comes as no surprise to the Ukrainian military leadership. The Ukrainian defense-industrial complex clearly understands the enemy’s technological intentions and is already taking effective countermeasures. In particular, Ukraine is actively developing and manufacturing special high-speed interceptor drones that will effectively hunt down Russian jet-powered UAVs and neutralize the threat in the sky before they can approach civilian cities.
