Russia has sharply increased its purchases of gasoline from Belarus following a decline in its own production due to Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries. In the first half of 2026, gasoline imports rose nearly 20-fold.
According to the agency, in June alone, Belarusian refineries shipped more than 181,000 metric tons of gasoline to Russia by rail, more than three times the May figure.
Imports of other petroleum products also increased. Monthly shipments of diesel fuel rose by about one and a half times—to over 77,000 metric tons—while jet fuel imports rose from 5,000 to over 16,000 metric tons.
It is noted that in recent months, Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries have led to a reduction in fuel production, forcing Moscow to purchase more fuel abroad.
In total, during the first half of the year, Belarus exported over 453,000 metric tons of gasoline to Russia, which is nearly 20 times more than during the same period last year. At the same time, diesel fuel shipments increased nearly fivefold—to 256,000 metric tons.
