Russia has unveiled a new air defense system designed to counter Ukrainian drones
The Russian Kalashnikov Concern unveiled the “Zveroboy” air defense system for the first time; its primary weapon is the “Kraken” FPV interceptor drone.
The developers state that the system is designed to provide round-the-clock protection for facilities against reconnaissance and attack drones. Among the stated targets are the Ukrainian “Leleka,” “Lyuty,” “Bobir,” and “Hornet-XR” drones.
The “Zveroboy” consists of a ground control station, an optical guidance system, a radar system, a digital repeater, and three launch containers. Each container holds three interceptor drones, meaning the system can carry a total of nine “Kraken” drones.
The Russians claim that the interceptors can operate both day and night. The night-vision variant, the “Kraken-N,” is additionally equipped with a thermal imaging camera.
The “Zveroboy” was presented in both stationary and mobile versions. The mobile version is mounted on the chassis of a production pickup truck, which is intended to simplify the system’s movement and camouflage.
At the same time, Kalashnikov has not disclosed the system’s key specifications—specifically, the detection and engagement ranges, the speed of the interceptors, and the weight of their warheads. The company also stated that the system can be integrated with existing surveillance and perimeter security systems.

On the night of September 12, Ukrainian drones continued to respond symmetrically to Russian attacks on our cities. The drones struck two Russian cities—Tolyatti and Taganrog. In Togliatti, a strategic chemical plant was targeted, while in Taganrog, several fires were reported, including at the airport and an automobile plant.
