Russia is stepping up its assaults on the front lines but is suffering heavy losses, says Zelenskyy
The Russian army is attempting to intensify its offensive operations on the front lines, but this is only leading to increased casualties and is having no impact on the course of Ukrainian operations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on Facebook following a briefing by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
“The situation on the front lines is quite tense right now—the Russian army is trying to intensify its offensive operations. But this only leads to an increase in their losses and does not disrupt our operations,” the head of state emphasized.
According to the president, Russian troops have failed to achieve their objectives in the border areas of the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as in the Donetsk region. As a result, the enemy is once again forced to postpone the implementation of its plans.
Separately, Zelenskyy highlighted the actions of the Ukrainian military in the southern sector.
“On the southern front, our units continue to carry out their assigned tasks—I thank every unit, every soldier, sergeant, and officer for this,” he noted.
The President also reported that during the briefing, he discussed with the Commander-in-Chief the issue of carrying out precision strikes.
Russia’s war against Ukraine could drag on for at least another year or two due to the lack of a breakthrough both on the front lines and in diplomatic negotiations.
The Kremlin is demanding that Kyiv make a decision as soon as possible to withdraw Ukrainian troops from the Donbas region.
