Russia is upgrading its "Shaheds" to counter Ukrainian electronic warfare systems
On September 12, the Russian military will upgrade the inertial navigation systems of “Shahed”-type attack drones. According to “Flash,” this is being done to reduce the impact of Ukrainian electronic warfare capabilities.
Serhiy Beskrestnov (“Flash”), a special advisor to the President, reported this on Telegram.
According to him, “one shouldn’t assume that all the ‘Shahed’ drones attacking Kyiv are operated via online control.” Some of the attacks are carried out using traditional satellite navigation systems. To minimize the impact of electronic warfare, the enemy upgraded the inertial navigation system on the Shaheds several weeks ago.”
He noted that “we also expect 20-element CRPA antennas to appear on the ‘Shaheds’ this month, replacing the 16-element ones.”
And that’s not all: Russia’s Progress Research Institute will begin production of 24-element antennas in 2027, Beskrestnov added.
He emphasized that the enemy is systematically and methodically working to modernize the “Shaheds” in every possible way.
At the same time, Beskrestnov noted that “the ‘Banderole’ and ‘Dan-T’ cruise missiles, on which the enemy is relying, do not have an online control system, but only a satellite and inertial navigation system. “One of the ways to counter these missiles is our electronic warfare capabilities.”
As a reminder, part of the Rivne region was left without electricity due to Russian shelling.
The Russians also struck a passenger train at the Lutsk train station.
Overnight, the Russians fired Kalibr missiles at a high-rise building in Odesa.
