Russia struck an ice cream manufacturer in Zhytomyr for the second time this month

On the night of September 28, Russian drones struck the Zhytomyr Butter Plant—which operates under the “Rud” brand—for the second time this month.

The company is Ukraine’s largest ice cream producer, with a 30% market share, and a leading exporter of these products to more than 36 countries worldwide. The production complex processes over 35,000 metric tons of milk annually and, in addition to ice cream, produces frozen vegetables, berries, semi-finished products, and dairy products.

According to YouControl, in the first half of 2026, the company’s revenue grew by 13.4% to 2.5 billion UAH, while profit fell by 17.2% to 245.5 million UAH.

On September 28, a building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine caught fire in central Kyiv following a Russian strike. Rescue workers are on the scene extinguishing the fire and searching the building—there may still be people inside.

In Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, a fire broke out at an industrial facility after debris from a downed Russian drone fell on the premises. The fire occurred in the industrial zone. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

In Kyiv’s Solomyanskyi District, debris was reported to have struck an educational institution following a Russian attack. Details regarding the extent of the damage and possible casualties are being clarified.
