Russia launched more than 2,400 attack drones and missiles at Ukraine in a single week — Zelenskyy
Russian occupation forces launched massive strikes on Ukrainian territory this week, deploying over 2,300 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided aerial bombs, and 108 missiles of various types.
The enemy attacks were deliberately directed against civilian targets, residential buildings, and critical energy infrastructure.
This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The head of state emphasized that air defense remains the top priority for saving lives.
According to him, all strikes were directed “simply at ordinary civilian infrastructure—residential buildings and energy facilities.”
The effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense is gradually increasing thanks to the support of international partners. In particular, the Armed Forces recently received another shipment of equipment from the German government.
“Every day we work to strengthen our defense against Russian terror. Yesterday we received a new IRIS-T launcher. We thank Germany for its constant contribution to protecting people. Thousands and thousands of lives have been saved thanks to such strong support. But we also need missiles for our air defense systems to have sufficient capabilities to repel Russian attacks,” Zelenskyy noted.
In addition to German aid, significant progress has been made in negotiations with our Nordic allies. This week, Ukraine and Sweden agreed on a new large-scale military support package.
It includes a decision to significantly strengthen the aviation component of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Swedish Gripen fighter jets.
Also this year, new financial contributions have been made to the important humanitarian and security program PURL. The head of state noted that stable support for this initiative must continue.
“We are counting on both the United States and our European partners. Ballistic missile defense is one of Ukraine’s key priorities,” the head of state stated.
The President emphasized that creating a reliable and deeply layered air defense system is capable of “providing greater protection for our people and depriving Russia of its last advantage.”
This will help stabilize the situation on the front lines and protect rear regions.
Russia attacked the Donetsk region; one person was killed
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 911 strikes on 40 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The occupiers used aircraft, artillery, and hundreds of drones, damaging residential buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure.
