Russia is keeping quiet about the destruction of the Chongar Bridge in occupied Crimea

Russia is keeping quiet about the destruction of the Chongar Bridge in occupied Crimea

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Russian side is attempting to conceal information about the destruction of the Chongar Bridge. The damage to the bridge has effectively disrupted the occupation forces’ logistics routes in the south.

This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

“The Chongar Bridge has been destroyed, and Russian authorities are trying to cover up the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea,” the head of the Center noted on Telegram.

Drone operators from the 3rd Separate Regiment of the Special Operations Forces named after Prince Sviatoslav the Brave established aerial control over a section of the strategic Melitopol — Chongar, which Russian troops actively use to supply their forces in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

In May 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a series of strikes against key elements of Russian military infrastructure as part of the “middle strike” campaign. Logistical routes in the Luhansk region and toward Crimea, as well as the occupiers’ warehouses, headquarters, and air defense systems, came under fire, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
