Russians have launched more than 50 drone attacks on the Chernihiv region over the past 24 hours

On May 12, Russian forces carried out more than 50 drone attacks on border towns in the Chernihiv region. The strikes damaged and destroyed residential buildings; information on casualties is still being verified.

This was reported on Telegram by Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.

In total, over the past 24 hours, the enemy attacked the Chernihiv region 56 times,” Chaus reported.

He noted that on Tuesday, May 12, during the day, the Russians attacked the town of Mena in the Koryukivka district with “Geran”-type drones, resulting in the destruction and damage of homes and farm buildings.

In one of the villages in this district, a house caught fire as a result of strikes by FPV drones. The fire was extinguished. In another village, dry grass and forest stands caught fire, covering a total area of 1 hectare.

According to Chaus, in one of the villages in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, two houses were completely burned down as a result of a strike by “Gerbera”-type drones. In another village, a house, a garage, a passenger car, and a motorcycle were damaged.

In a village in the Pryluky district, windows were shattered in a school, a workshop, and a residential building as a result of a UAV strike.

On the border of the Chernihiv region, the scale of a forest fire caused by Russian shelling is rapidly increasing. Over the past 24 hours, the area of the fire has nearly doubled and currently stands at about 4,300 hectares.

As a reminder, a large-scale forest fire broke out in the Chernihiv region near the state border. The fire has engulfed thousands of hectares of forest, and preliminary data indicates that Russian shelling of border areas caused the blaze.
