The Russians launched 229 UAVs at Ukraine; 212 of them were shot down by air defense forces
On the night of May 31, Russian forces launched a large-scale air strike on northern and eastern regions of Ukraine, deploying 229 unmanned aerial vehicles.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force Command in its morning briefing.
Air defense forces managed to neutralize 212 enemy drones, but 14 strike UAVs were recorded hitting 11 different locations.
The enemy attack began on the evening of May 30 and lasted more than fourteen hours. To carry out the aerial assault, the invaders used a wide range of equipment—from classic and jet-powered models to inexpensive imitation platforms.
The air attack was jointly repelled by tactical aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units.
The Russian army launched drones simultaneously from multiple directions, attempting to exhaust Ukrainian air defense as much as possible.
Launches were recorded from airfields and training grounds near the cities of Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Some of the lethal drones also took off from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea, specifically from the area of Cape Gvardeyskoye.
In addition to confirmed damage from the strikes, local fires broke out in some regions due to falling debris from the downed drones.
Currently, rescue services and local authorities are addressing the aftermath of enemy strikes at five locations.
The defenders of Ukraine’s skies continue their combat operations, as isolated enemy air attack assets are still being detected in the airspace.
