A Russian man went to war so his ex-girlfriend wouldn't go to prison for embezzlement
A Russian prisoner of war captured by soldiers of the 152nd Jäger Brigade explained why he signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces.
According to Kateryna Myronchuk, head of the brigade’s communications department, his ex-wife worked at an order processing center and embezzled 600,000 rubles over the course of five months.
To keep his wife out of jail, the man signed a contract with the Russian army. He used his first paycheck to pay off the debt and spent the rest of the money on Salomon clothing.
Later, the Russian was taken prisoner by the Ukrainian military.
