The Russian army lost another 1,480 soldiers in Ukraine over the past 24 hours
As of August 20, 2026, the total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion have reached approximately 1,472,640 personnel. Over the past day, Ukrainian forces have killed or wounded another 1,480 Russian soldiers.
The Russian Federation also lost:
- tanks – 12,283 (+7) units
- armored personnel carriers / troop-carrying AFVs – 25,165 (+3) units
- artillery systems – 48,261 (+56) units
- MLRS – 2,050 (+7) units
- anti-aircraft systems – 1,577 (+0) units

- Ground robotic systems – 2,321 (+10) units
- Operational-tactical UAVs – 470,869 (+1,672) units
- cruise missiles – 5,010 (+0) units
- warships / boats – 35 (+0) units

As a reminder, the death toll in Kyiv has risen following a nighttime ballistic attack by Russia.
Earlier reports indicated that four people were killed and another 23 were injured as a result of Russia’s massive nighttime attack on Kyiv on the night of August 20. Strikes, destruction, and fires were reported in the Sviatoshynskyi, Darnytskyi, and Solomianskyi districts of the capital.
Units of the State Emergency Service and all relevant emergency services continue to work at the scenes; information regarding the consequences of the strike is being clarified.
Earlier reports indicated that an incident involving power grid infrastructure was recorded in the Brovary community as a result of the enemy attack.
