Russian attack on Odesa region: two killed and widespread destruction
As a result of another overnight shelling of Odesa Oblast by Russian forces, two people were killed and three others sustained injuries of varying severity.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The main strike targeted residential areas and civilian infrastructure facilities, causing numerous fires.
One of the enemy drones hit an apartment in a multi-storey residential building. Fortunately, in this particular case there was no fire and no casualties, and emergency psychologists were promptly working at the scene.
At another address, the fall of a Russian drone triggered a large-scale fire. The blaze engulfed two lorries and damaged several other vehicles parked nearby.
In addition, the attackers struck critical infrastructure facilities in the region. The extent of the damage is currently being clarified by specialists working to restore stable living conditions in the affected settlements.
Another fire broke out inside an auto parts store and on the premises of an adjacent lorry parking area. Firefighters battled the flames to prevent them from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
To deal with the consequences of the overnight attack, 71 rescuers and 16 units of specialised equipment from the State Emergency Service were deployed. The response operations continued throughout the night under extremely difficult conditions and the threat of repeated strikes.
Earlier, Russia carried out a drone strike on a village in the Kharkiv region, injuring five people. Russia has also previously attacked the Odesa region with drones, causing injuries and significant destruction.
