In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian strike on a DTEK mine administration building killed a security guard and injured five other people. Dozens of miners were trapped underground during the attack and were urgently brought to the surface after the power was cut. The company has currently suspended operations and is assessing the extent of the damage.

 

On July 3, Russian troops struck the DTEK mine administration in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing a security guard and injuring five other employees with injuries of varying severity. The strike caused serious damage to the company’s infrastructure and effectively paralyzed its operations.

The company reported that due to a sudden power outage at the time of the attack, 86 miners were underground, and all of them were promptly evacuated to the surface without further casualties. This prevented a much greater tragedy, as the situation unfolded rapidly and amid a complete loss of power. “The strike caused significant destruction. Due to the power outage at the time of the attack, 86 workers were underground in the mine. All were immediately evacuated to the surface,” DTEK reported.

Following the attack, operations at the mine have been completely suspended; the company’s specialists are assessing the damage and preparing for restoration work as soon as it becomes technically feasible and safe. DTEK noted that the safety of employees and stabilizing the situation at the facility remain the top priorities. This is stated in DTEK’s Telegram announcement.
