The company reported that due to a sudden power outage at the time of the attack, 86 miners were underground, and all of them were promptly evacuated to the surface without further casualties. This prevented a much greater tragedy, as the situation unfolded rapidly and amid a complete loss of power. “The strike caused significant destruction. Following the attack, operations at the mine have been completely suspended; the company’s specialists are assessing the damage and preparing for restoration work as soon as it becomes technically feasible and safe.
