A Russian aerial bomb destroyed a historic building in Sloviansk
On the morning of August 26, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on the central part of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. A Russian guided bomb struck a historic building known to locals as the “Printing Yard” or simply “The Print Shop.”
The direct hit caused critical damage to the building. It is a red-brick structure built over a century ago that was an important historical landmark of the city.
The explosion destroyed part of the building’s upper floors, ceilings, and windows. The roof also sustained significant damage—in fact, almost nothing remains of it.
The historic building was among the civilian structures in Sloviansk that were destroyed as a result of Russian attacks.
The destroyed building on what is now Universytetska Street is known in local history materials as the Hruska House—named after its owner, Petro Dementiyovych Hruska. The building was part of the “Sloviansk the Merchant” historical architectural tour route.
Originally, the house was a single-story structure, but during the Soviet period, a second story was added, and a printing facility was established there. Over time, the building became one of the city’s centers for the printing industry. The “Printing Yard” operated here, producing newspapers, books by local authors, and local history and educational publications.
The printing house continued its work even after Ukraine declared independence. The building even survived the occupation of Sloviansk by Russian troops in 2014: after the city was liberated, production resumed.
In 2019, the “Drukarnya” Civil Society Center opened on the first floor, hosting meetings, presentations, and educational and cultural events.

Sloviansk has officially become a zone of active combat.
Overnight, Russian drones attacked a shopping center in the Central District of Kherson. After the strike, a massive fire broke out, engulfing nearly the entire shopping center. The building and the property inside were virtually burned to the ground.
Over the past day, Russian troops attacked settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region 539 times. Three people were killed as a result of the Russian strikes, and another 19 residents of the region were wounded.
Since the evening, Russian troops have attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 30 times. Three districts of the region came under fire, with the occupiers using drones and artillery. The attacks damaged houses, cars, and farm buildings, and fires broke out in several locations.
