Russian troops continue to put pressure on Vovchansk and Kupiansk — Tregubov
Russian troops from the aggressor state of Russia continue to apply pressure around Vovchansk and on Kupiansk; however, according to Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, the effectiveness of their offensive operations remains low. He made this statement during a televised marathon, as reported by “Ukrainska Pravda” with reference to Ukrinform.
According to Tregubov, the situation on a number of fronts within the Joint Forces Operation’s area of responsibility remains challenging. He also stated that Russian forces are attempting to demonstrate certain results before the end of the so-called “summer campaign.”
“They need to at least simulate the fulfillment of their tasks, which is why they are now trying to come up with some results by the end of the ‘summer campaign’… but if we look specifically at the effectiveness of these attempts, it is low,” the spokesperson said.
Around Vovchansk, Russian troops are trying to establish a large zone of control but are unable to fully take the city under their control, Tregubov noted. East of the Oskil River, Ukrainian forces are holding a large bridgehead that Russian troops are trying to split. In the Kupiansk area specifically, according to the spokesperson, they are advancing slowly and trying to gain a foothold in the northern parts of the city.
