The Office of the Prosecutor General announced that a Russian servicemember has been charged with the murder of a captured commander of a Defense Forces unit in the Pokrovsk direction.

According to the investigation, in October 2025, a Russian infantry unit captured two Ukrainian soldiers, one of whom was a 34-year-old commander. After interrogating one of the captives, the occupier took him to a wooded area and, on the commander’s orders, shot him in the back of the head. The other Ukrainian soldier was also killed.

Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as a 34-year-old native of the Krasnoyarsk Krai of the Russian Federation, a rifleman with the 336th Separate Guards Marine Brigade with the call sign “Tai.”

During subsequent combat operations in this area, the Russian was captured by Ukrainian forces. He was informed that he is suspected of committing a war crime resulting in the death of a person.

Law enforcement officials are also working to identify another Russian serviceman involved in the shooting.
