Defense forces are making gains in the Oleksandrivka sector — Syrskyi

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are employing active defense tactics in the Oleksandrivka sector and have achieved some success in certain areas. Russian occupation forces continue to carry out intense assault operations, but large-scale attacks involving heavy equipment in this sector have nearly ceased. 

This was reported on Telegram by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. 

Instead, the enemy has shifted to the active use of artillery, drones, and assaults by small infantry groups. During a working visit to the combat zone, the Commander-in-Chief met with the commanders of the 31st and 67th Separate Mechanized Brigades to discuss the current situation and ensure the units are supplied with weapons. Special attention was given to the supply of ground-based robotic systems, drones, and artillery ammunition. Syrskyi also addressed the issue of troop rotation on the front lines and thanked the soldiers for their resilience and courage in repelling Russian aggression.

Since the start of the day on May 12, Russian troops have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 57 times; the most intense fighting is taking place in the Kostyantynivka and Pokrovsk directions.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Russian missile carrier equipped with Kalibr missiles.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces denied reports of an attempt by a sabotage and reconnaissance group to break through to Nikopol.
