Ukraine’s Defence Forces refuted a Russian fake about the capture of Ternuvate in Zaporizhzhia region
Russian sources once again attempted to spread false claims about the alleged capture of Ternuvate in the Zaporizhzhia region, but Ukrainian troops have denied these statements. The commander of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, Oleh Shyriaiev, demonstrated that the settlement remains under the control of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, the regiment’s press service reported.
Russian occupiers have repeatedly claimed they had seized Ternuvate. Since late January, Russia’s Ministry of Defence has circulated statements asserting control over the settlement.
“This is not true. Ternuvate is under the control of Ukrainian forces,” stressed Oleh Shyriaiev, commander of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.
To counter Kremlin propaganda, he published a video filmed near the settlement’s entrance stele, showing Ukrainian soldiers holding positions there.
Shyriaiev noted that a small group of Russian troops may be hiding in basements and underground shelters within the settlement. Counter-sabotage operations are ongoing against them, allowing Ukrainian forces to maintain control and prevent the enemy from gaining a foothold.
Ukrainian servicemen emphasise that such Russian claims are part of a systematic information warfare campaign. They are designed to create an illusion of “success” for domestic propaganda purposes in Russia, while in reality the situation on the ground remains under the control of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
“We are holding Ternuvate, and there are no occupiers on the streets of the settlement. All Kremlin attempts to spread fakes will be refuted by facts,” Shyriaiev added.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned about the risks of new Russian military exercises in Belarus.
Ukraine has also destroyed relay transmitters used for “Shahed” drones in Belarus.
