Defense forces struck a Russian port through which Iranian drones were being delivered
Over the past day, the Ukrainian military struck eight enemy infrastructure targets in various regions of Russia.
Among the targets hit was a strategic port on the Caspian Sea in Makhachkala, through which Russia had been shipping attack drones from Iran for use on the front lines.
Eight targets in a single day
Over the past day, Ukrainian troops struck eight targets in Russia that are supporting the war against Ukraine. Among the targets hit were an oil refinery in the Yamalo-Nenets region and a commercial seaport in Dagestan.
In addition, facilities in the Moscow, Voronezh, Astrakhan, and Bryansk regions were struck.
“Russia continues its terror against Ukraine every day. And every day it receives a just response,” the president wrote.
“FP-1 drones attacked Russia’s only ice-free port on the Caspian Sea, through which Iranian Shahed drones were delivered,” Fire Point reported.
The Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is Russia’s only ice-free deep-water port on the Caspian Sea. It operates year-round and provides maritime links between Russia and countries in the Caspian region, including Iran.
Makhachkala was also used as one of the delivery points for Iranian strike drones to Russia via the Caspian Sea. From there, the drones were subsequently transported to areas where they were deployed against Ukraine.
In the first eight months of 2026, the port handled over 2.9 million metric tons of cargo
Of this total, more than 2.08 million metric tons was crude oil.
A strike and subsequent fire were reported on the port’s premises. The exact consequences of the attack are currently being assessed.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Russian boat in Sevastopol.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
