Defense forces shot down 524 aerial targets during a massive enemy attack on Ukraine
On the night of July 2, Russian occupation forces launched a large-scale combined strike against Ukrainian territory, focusing the main thrust of the attack on Kyiv.
In total, Ukrainian air defense units successfully destroyed or neutralized 524 enemy targets, including 48 missiles of various types and 476 attack drones.
The enemy carried out an unprecedented attack, deploying 570 weapons simultaneously from various directions. The aggressor used a large number of ballistic missiles and jet-powered UAVs, which significantly complicated the work of the air defense systems.
The Air Force’s electronic warfare units detected the launches of 74 missiles, including four hypersonic “Zircons,” 24 “Iskander-M/S-400” ballistic missiles, 34 X-101 cruise missiles, eight “Kalibr” missiles, and four X-59/69 air-launched missiles.
The enemy also launched 496 attack drones of the “Shahed,” “Gerbera,” and “Italmas” types, as well as “Banderol” loitering munitions and “Parodia” decoy drones.
Units of the Air Defense Missile Forces, the Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces joined in repelling the attack.
As of 09:00, the destruction of 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles, eight “Kalibr” missiles, four guided air-to-ground missiles, four ballistic missiles, and 476 drones has been officially confirmed.
Despite the effective performance of the air defense forces, 25 ballistic missiles and 12 attack UAVs were recorded as having struck their targets, resulting in damage at 33 locations.
In addition, debris from downed drones caused damage at 18 more sites; information regarding several other missiles is currently being verified by experts.
