Syrsky Announced New Medical Battalions in the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to expand the system of medical care for service members. Following a successful pilot program with select medical battalions, they intend to establish such units in every army corps.

This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi following a monthly meeting on military medicine. According to him, the new system has already shown positive results, particularly during the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the pilot program to create separate, multi-purpose medical battalions has proven successful. These units provide medical support to various components of the Defense Forces and help rescue the wounded more quickly.

According to Syrskyi, it is precisely these medical battalions that are currently implementing modern approaches to military medicine. “It is these units that are now leading the way in introducing new approaches to military medicine, particularly the use of ground-based robotic systems. The number of successful evacuations of the wounded using ground-based robotic systems is growing every month,” the Commander-in-Chief noted.

He announced that the next step will be the creation of a separate medical battalion within each army corps. “This will ensure a continuous system of medical support for troops within the corps’ area of responsibility and significantly improve the speed of evacuation and the provision of care,” explained Syrskyi.

According to him, the new structure will help respond more quickly to the needs of military personnel directly in the combat zone and improve coordination between all levels of medical care. Special attention was paid during the meeting to equipping military medics. Syrskyi emphasized that the development of military medicine must remain a top priority. “We must continue to build up the capabilities of military medicine and do everything possible to ensure that every military medic is provided with modern equipment, transportation, protective gear, and everything necessary to carry out their duties,” he stressed.

The Commander-in-Chief also noted that the use of modern technologies, particularly ground-based robotic systems for evacuating the wounded, is already yielding positive results. According to him, the number of successful evacuations using such systems is steadily increasing. The Ukrainian Armed Forces expect that expanding the network of medical battalions will allow for even faster assistance to wounded soldiers and will improve the efficiency of the entire military medical system. The Commander-in-Chief wrote about this on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Roman Svitan, a reserve colonel in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a military expert, believes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ operation in occupied Crimea has entered a new phase. According to him, following strikes against Russian air defense systems and logistics, the main targets are now military facilities, energy infrastructure, and the infrastructure supporting the occupying forces.
