Syryskyi announced the creation of new UAV units to protect the border

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has decided to form new unmanned aerial vehicle units to significantly strengthen the defense of the state border in the northern sector.

This step is aimed at improving the effectiveness of strategic line coverage and building up the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army.

The relevant measures were approved during a special meeting on the status and readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ reserves.

The country’s military leadership is paying special attention to border protection and equipping the new units with modern technology.

The new special units will receive a full range of necessary equipment to effectively counter threats.

“They will be provided with the necessary weapons, equipment, and other resources to carry out their assigned tasks. At the same time, we continue to build up the capabilities of units that are already performing tasks in this area,” emphasized Oleksandr Syrskyi.

During the working meeting, the general staff also discussed in detail the issue of restoring the combat readiness of Ukrainian military units after their prolonged engagement in complex combat missions on the front lines.

The meeting participants paid special attention to the processes of comprehensively re-equipping brigades with the latest weapons and military equipment.

In addition, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted the critical importance of high-quality training for junior officers.

“I specifically emphasized the development of the sergeant corps. It is the sergeants who form the foundation of a unit’s combat readiness and serve as a vital link between the commander and the soldier. Future commanders must be selected primarily from among soldiers who have proven their effectiveness in combat, possess leadership qualities, enjoy authority among their comrades, and are highly motivated to serve,” stated the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Significant structural changes and technological upgrades will also affect the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Territorial Defense Forces. The high command has approved plans to maximize the use of unmanned technologies in these formations.

According to the general, scaling up the unmanned component in Territorial Defense Force units will significantly enhance their capabilities in conducting reconnaissance, striking the enemy, and reliably defending designated areas of responsibility.

Syrsky announced this on social media.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will pay 100,000 hryvnias for each captured Russian soldier

Ukrainian military officers will not be subject to discharge from the army during the demobilization of enlisted personnel scheduled for the end of 2026 due to the critical importance of their role in troop command.

A digital mechanism for the return of military personnel after unauthorized absence from their units has been launched in Ukraine via the “Army+” app, which allows them to complete the procedure without unnecessary bureaucracy and immediately select a new unit. The Ministry of Defense says the system is intended to expedite the return of motivated soldiers to the most effective units of the Defense Forces.

Zelenskyy announced an increase in pay for military personnel: infantrymen will receive 300,000 UAH.
