The Syzran and Saratov oil refineries halted operations following drone attacks

Rosneft’s Syzran and Saratov oil refineries have completely halted oil refining due to damage caused by drone attacks. The Syzran refinery ceased operations on September 15, and the Saratov refinery on September 11.

At the Syzran refinery in the Samara region, the main crude oil refining unit, AVT-6—which accounts for 71% of the facility’s capacity—was damaged. Experts estimate that repairs will take at least a month. Another unit, AVT-5, was already undergoing repairs following the July attack. Due to the plant’s shutdown, wholesale shipments of gasoline and diesel fuel from the refinery are no longer being offered for auction.

The Saratov Oil Refinery completely halted crude processing on September 11. Prior to this, the facility had also temporarily shut down on September 8 and in August due to drone attacks and fires. Sales of its products on the exchange have been suspended since September 8. Rosneft has not commented on the situation.

Prior to this, Moscow had imposed limits on the sale of gasoline and diesel.

As a reminder, the Russian oil refinery “Orsknefteorgsintez” halted oil processing following a Ukrainian drone attack on August 11.
