Satellite images show the aftermath of the strike on the Wildberries warehouse in Bashkortostan
A satellite image showed the extent of the damage to Wildberries’ large warehouse in Bashkortostan following a drone attack. The fire destroyed nearly 30,000 square meters of the building—about one-fifth of the entire complex.
A new satellite image has made it possible to assess the consequences of the strike on the Wildberries logistics complex in Bashkortostan. The image shows a large burned-out section of the building. The fire destroyed nearly 30,000 square meters of the warehouse. This is approximately 20% of the complex’s total area.
Traces of impact are also visible on the roofs of other parts of the building. Therefore, the actual damage inside may be greater than what is visible in the satellite image. This is one of the Russian marketplace’s major logistics hubs. At such facilities, goods are stored, sorted, and prepared for further distribution.
What is known about the attack
On the night of August 13, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Wildberries complex in the Chishminsky District of Bashkortostan. Russian authorities reported a drone attack, but detailed information about the damage to the logistics center had not been released at that time.
Satellite imagery now reveals the scale of the fire. The images clearly show a large area that was burned after the strike. According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, this facility is now the 21st logistics center in Russia to have been damaged or destroyed as a result of Ukrainian attacks since July 18.
An oil refinery also caught fire in Bashkortostan
On the same day, another major fire broke out in Bashkortostan. One of Russia’s largest oil refineries caught fire there. According to reports, Ukrainian drones had to travel about 1,400 kilometers to reach the facility.
Thus, on August 13, two major incidents were recorded in the region at once—a strike on the Wildberries logistics complex and a fire at a large oil refinery. A satellite image of the Wildberries warehouse became one of the first visual confirmations of just how extensive the fire was following the attack, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Sellers on the Russian marketplace Wildberries are complaining en masse about delays in payments for goods already sold. According to them, payments for orders placed before August 3 have not yet been received, even though the platform’s rules stipulate that payment must be made within five business days.
