A satellite captured images of damaged Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov
A Planet Labs satellite captured the aftermath of attacks on Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov. The images, released by the “Schemes” project (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty), are dated July 9.
One of the satellite photos taken near the Kerch Strait shows a tanker with a fire still burning on board. Another vessel showing signs of damage is located about 10 kilometers away, but due to the image’s resolution, it is impossible to determine its type with certainty.
Earlier, Robert Brovdy, commander of the Unmanned Systems Force, reported that on the night of July 9, Ukrainian drones struck 14 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov, including 12 tankers, a tugboat, and a dry cargo ship. According to him, a total of 35 vessels used to support the occupying forces have been struck over the past four days.

In addition, on the night of July 8, attack drones of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a military airfield in Borisoglebsk, Voronezh Oblast, Russia. This airbase is home to aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which are used for both combat and training missions.
Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have reduced the strength of the Russian army by another 1,260 troops. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released updated data on enemy losses as of July 8, also reporting the destruction of a significant amount of enemy equipment.
