The 3rd Army Corps reported on the Russians' new tactics on the front lines

On the section of the front held by the 3rd Army Corps, Russian troops have stepped up their attempts to infiltrate through forest belts and dense vegetation, and are increasingly using guided aerial bombs and “Molniya” drones against Ukrainian infantry.

According to Yevhen Zhukov, deputy commander of the communications unit of the 3rd Assault Brigade, with the arrival of dense vegetation, the occupiers are making more active use of forest belts to advance covertly toward Ukrainian positions. Due to the dense vegetation, it is more difficult for drones to detect enemy movements.

Zhukov noted that several large Russian military units are currently operating in the area, including the 20th and 25th Armies, the Russian Federation’s 3rd Army Corps, and the 1st Kantemirovskaya Tank Division. At the same time, he said, numerical superiority does not guarantee the enemy success.

“For us, the most valuable asset is the infantryman. We do our utmost to protect our people, whereas the Russians simply keep throwing their troops into battle nonstop,” Zhukov said.

He also emphasized that the Russians have almost completely abandoned large-scale mechanized assaults. Instead, they are using motorcycles, ATVs, buggies, and other light vehicles, which the Ukrainian military is trying to destroy before they reach the front lines.

According to Zhukov, Russian troops have significantly expanded their use of “Molniya” drones. Whereas they were previously used mainly to target equipment, they are now increasingly being used to attack Ukrainian troops moving through forest belts.

In addition, the occupiers are using combined strike tactics: first, an FPV drone disables the vehicles, and then another drone attacks the soldiers as they abandon their vehicles.

Yevhen Zhukov spoke about this on July 9 during a broadcast on Hromadske Radio

As a reminder, Russia is using “Gerbera” drones as carriers for FPV drones: a new tactic for strikes and reconnaissance.
