Belarus has stated that it does not see any threat of an attack from Ukraine or NATO countries
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated that Minsk currently sees no signs of preparations for an attack by Ukraine or NATO countries. According to him, the military and political situation surrounding Belarus remains stable.
According to the head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, monitoring of NATO armed forces’ activities has not revealed any significant military activity near Belarus’s borders.
“As we monitor the activities of NATO’s armed forces, we do not see any significant activity. In neighboring countries, there is a minimal number of exercises and a minimal number of flights. Therefore, we believe the situation is stable, and we do not see any threat or preparations for a surprise attack,” Khrenin stated.
At the same time, he asserts that the Belarusian side has also not detected any signs of preparations for aggressive actions on the part of the Ukrainian military.
According to the minister, Ukrainian units responsible for border security are not preparing for active offensive operations, and an escalation of the situation at the border is not in their interest.
Earlier, however, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Sekret stated that Minsk would use “all its capabilities” if Ukrainian troops crossed the state border.
Khrenin made this statement while answering questions from journalists.
As a reminder, on July 10, Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, stated that Belarus continues to expand its military infrastructure near the border with Ukraine, although no strike force has been detected on its territory at this time.
Lukashenko stated that Belarusian military personnel will not take part in the war against Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that one should not be naive about Belarus’s role in Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to him, Minsk is under strong influence from Moscow, and most of the Belarusian government’s decisions are effectively dictated by the Kremlin.
