In Chuguev, more than 13,000 customers were left without power following an attack by the Russian Federation

On the night of August 5, Russian troops struck a critical infrastructure facility in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast. As a result of the attack, approximately 13,300 customers were left without power.

Initially, she reported that the city had temporarily lost power following the explosion, and that the causes of the incident were being investigated.

“About half an hour ago, an explosion occurred in Chuhuiv, causing the city to temporarily lose power. The circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated, and measures are being taken to resolve the situation,” Minaeva said.

Later, the mayor clarified that Russian troops had shelled a critical infrastructure facility, leaving approximately 13,300 customers without power.

“According to updated information, the enemy shelled a critical infrastructure facility, leaving about 13,300 of the city’s customers without power,” she noted.

Emergency crews are currently working to restore power. According to preliminary estimates, power is expected to be restored within two to three hours.

Throughout the night, the Ukrainian Air Force repeatedly warned of Russian attack drones moving toward Chuhuiv. In addition, a threat of guided aerial bombs was announced for the Kharkiv region.

As a result of the Russian forces’ nighttime attack on the Kyiv region on August 5, 2026, 14 people were killed and another 27 civilians were injured. Rescue workers continue to deal with the aftermath of the strikes and extinguish fires in several districts of the region.

Over the past 24 hours, on August 4, Russian forces attacked the Zaporizhzhia region 1,052 times, striking 50 settlements in the region. Two people were injured as a result of shelling in Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district.
