The Russian State Duma called for open bombing of Ukrainian cities
On August 28, Pyotr Tolstoy, Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma, called for open attacks on Ukrainian cities. According to him, such attacks are intended to demoralize the population and force Ukraine to surrender.
Tolstoy made this proposal during an appearance on the Russian propaganda talk show “Time Will Tell” on Channel One. During the conversation, he was reminded that more than 20 million people currently live in Ukraine, and was asked what would happen to them if the country’s territory were turned into “scorched earth.”
In response, the Russian politician stated that residents of Ukrainian cities could be warned in advance of the strikes and given 24 hours to evacuate.
Tolstoy explained this proposal as necessary to demoralize Ukrainian society. According to him, the goal of the strikes should be to force Ukrainians to surrender.
“Do you think we’re calling for cruelty? No, we’re calling for demoralizing the public to such an extent that they’ll come out with their hands up to meet our troops,” said the deputy speaker of the State Duma.
Earlier, Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on a facility in Kryvyi Rih.
As a reminder, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles.
Prior to that, Russia had attacked warehouses and energy facilities in the Odesa region.
