The Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka sectors remain the most active — General Staff
Since the start of the day on August 28, there have been 207 combat engagements along the front lines. Russian forces carried out the most attacks in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka sectors, but fighting also continued in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions and in southern Ukraine.
Russian troops continued to strike Ukrainian military positions and populated areas. Over the past 24 hours, the occupiers carried out 54 airstrikes and dropped 203 guided bombs. They also deployed 5,315 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,106 shelling attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces and populated areas.
The Situation in the North
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled one attack by Russian troops.
Kharkiv Region
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces launched eight assaults on Ukrainian positions over the past 24 hours. Fighting took place near Staritsa, Zakharivka, Okhrimivka, and Volokhivka. Two engagements were still ongoing at the time of the evening report.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russian troops launched one assault toward Novoosynove.
Fighting in the East
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces repelled nine Russian attempts to advance. Fighting took place in the areas of Shyikivka, Hrekivka, Stavky, Lyman, and Dibrova.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian defense forces repelled five attacks near Zakytne, Kryva Luka, and Rai-Oleksandrivka. Another clash was ongoing.
On the Kramatorsk front, Russian forces launched five assaults in the areas of Zapovidne and Yurkivka.
The fighting was even more intense in the Kostiantynivka sector. There, Ukrainian forces repelled 18 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Novoselivka. Two other engagements were ongoing.
Most Attacks in the Pokrovsk Direction
Russian troops carried out the largest number of assaults over the past 24 hours in the Pokrovsk sector—31 attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance near Toretsk, Sofiivka, Vilne, Dobropillia, Novohryshyne, Kotlyne, Serhiivka, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, Bilyakivka, and Novopavlivka.
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, Ukrainian forces killed 45 invaders and wounded another 13 over the past 24 hours. They also destroyed three pieces of specialized equipment and 18 Russian military shelters in this sector. Two additional vehicles, one drone control center, and 68 enemy fortifications were damaged.
In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed or neutralized 256 Russian drones of various types. On the Oleksandrivka front, the Defense Forces repelled three attacks in the areas of Piddubne, Maliivka, and Rybne. Another attack was still ongoing at the time of this report.
Fighting in the South
In the Huliaipole sector, Russian troops carried out 13 attacks. The occupiers stormed Ukrainian positions in the areas of Rizdvyanka, Hirky, Dolynka, Kopaniv, and Yegorivka. In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces repelled four attacks near Krasnogorsk and Novopavlivka.
In the Dnipro sector, no Russian assaults were recorded over the past 24 hours. Thus, as of the evening of August 28, Russian troops continued to actively attack Ukrainian positions across several sections of the front. In total, the General Staff recorded 207 combat engagements over the past 24 hours, with the Pokrovsk sector seeing the highest number of assaults. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a summary of the situation on the front lines as of August 28.
