False claims that the West is to blame for the war have begun to spread in Europe

False claims that the West is to blame for the war have begun to spread in Europe

In the information space of European countries, there has been a rise in disinformation campaigns aimed at discrediting international aid to Ukraine and shifting responsibility for the war from Russia to Western nations.

According to available information, messages consistent with Kremlin propaganda are being disseminated through a number of local media outlets known for their anti-Western and pro-Russian stance.

In particular, these publications promote the claim that EU and NATO countries allegedly seek direct military conflict with Russia.

Separately, the claim is being circulated that arms supplies to Ukraine constitute “incitement to war.”

According to the authors of the analysis, such messages are used to shape the European audience’s perception of support for Ukraine.

Another aspect of these information campaigns is the attempt to discredit Ukraine’s right to self-defense.

In particular, the authors of such publications attempt to cast doubt on Ukraine’s legitimate right to defend itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

At the same time, they try to convince their audience that ending military and defense support for Ukraine will supposedly lead to a quicker peace.

According to this logic, aid to Kyiv is presented not as support for a state defending itself against aggression, but as a factor prolonging the war.

Through local “alternative” media, narratives favorable to the Kremlin may be imposed on European audiences.

According to the authors of the analysis, such reports involve a substitution of concepts and a shifting of responsibility for the war—from the aggressor state to the countries providing Ukraine with assistance for its defense.

At the same time, such information campaigns are aimed at undermining the willingness of international partners to support Ukraine and help it deter Russian aggression.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

In addition, Russian propaganda has launched a fake “flash mob” aimed at opposing mobilization in Ukraine. Photos are circulating online of allegedly pregnant Ukrainian women holding sheets of paper with calls to stop the mobilization.

Russian propaganda is circulating a staged video to discredit the 119th Territorial Defense Brigade — the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Earlier, the Central Command Headquarters refuted a forecast of two-week lockdowns this winter.

Ukraine is already preparing its power grid for the next heating season, which is predicted to be no less challenging than the previous one.

Ukraine will increase gas imports from Poland, according to the regulator.
