General Staff reports intensified fighting in Huliaipole direction
Russian troops in the Huliaipole direction are intensifying combat operations, launching thousands of drone attacks and conducting dozens of assaults against the Armed Forces of Ukraine daily, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Facebook.
“The situation in southern Ukraine, particularly in the Huliaipole direction, is currently very tense. The enemy is conducting active assaults, increasing artillery strikes, and deploying kamikaze drones,” the General Staff stated.
In the past 24 hours alone, Ukrainian forces recorded more than three dozen assaults, over 500 artillery strikes using more than 2,100 rounds, a dozen airstrikes, 250 UAV drops, and attacks by nearly 2,000 kamikaze drones.
The statement also highlighted the ongoing information war, noting that the enemy exaggerates its “successes” and emphasizes perceived problems within the Ukrainian Defense Forces to spread panic and incite ill-considered actions.
Despite these pressures, the General Staff reported that Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their positions, with communication and logistics fully established. Daily, Ukrainian forces reportedly destroy 250–300 enemy troops and over 50 units of weapons and military equipment. Yesterday alone, Ukrainian forces put two enemy tanks, around 15 artillery systems, and about 40 vehicles and motorized units out of action.
“There are fierce battles for every metre of our native land. The situation is difficult, but there is no encirclement. Communication with the fighters is maintained, logistics are in place, and the wounded are being evacuated. Reports about blocking detachments are false. On the contrary, assault units have been sent to reinforce them,” the General Staff said.
The report emphasized that military command responds quickly to changes on the front, making informed decisions to either maintain defense or preserve personnel by withdrawing to advantageous positions when resources are insufficient. These tactical withdrawals allow Ukrainian forces to later halt enemy advances and inflict comprehensive fire damage.
The General Staff reminded citizens and the media that reliable information about the course of military operations comes only from official sources.
“Citizens and media have the right to express their views, but the main source of verified operational information is the General Staff. We urge the media and public to trust only verified information and not be influenced by dubious sources that may play into the enemy’s hands,” the statement concluded.
