Two volunteers who died in the war in Ukraine were buried in Georgia
The bodies of Georgian soldiers Bacho Bebia and Davit Gogadze, who were killed in Ukraine, have been brought to Tbilisi.
This was reported by the Tbilisi_life agency.
At the airport, the bodies of the defenders of Ukraine were met by relatives and activists, as well as Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili. She expressed regret that the ceremony took place without an honor guard and without the participation of government officials, including the Ministry of Defense, as befits defenders of democratic values around the world.

According to Zurabishvili, this is a heavy loss for the families of the deceased, especially for the children left without parents. At the same time, she emphasized that their contribution to defending the country’s dignity is of great significance.

Zurabishvili called the absence of officials and military honors unacceptable, noting that this is also painful for many Georgian servicemen:
“I am certain that today every Georgian soldier who is not here and cannot come is deeply distressed that there is no one here to honor them, because this is also a tremendous loss for them,” said Georgia’s fifth president during the ceremony.

Davit Gogadze was killed in Ukraine on May 7, 2024. He was a fighter in the Georgian unit “Black Eagle.” Another Georgian soldier, Beso Lomidze, was killed alongside him. They came under fire in the Avdiivka area while attempting to retrieve the body of their fallen comrade, Soso Gugutishvili, from the front lines.
It took nearly two years to return Gogadze’s body to his homeland. He will be transported to Telavi and buried in the family cemetery.
The death of Bacho Bebi became known on April 21. He was from a family of internally displaced persons from occupied Abkhazia. He will be buried in Zugdidi.
As a reminder, in 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Vano Nadiradze, a volunteer from Georgia who fought for Ukraine in the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, died of a heart attack in Kyiv.
In January 2025, Georgian fighter Kaha Tilidze was killed in the war in Ukraine.
In November, another Georgian fighter, 24-year-old Levan Lokhishvili, was killed on the front lines in battles against Russian invaders.
